👋 Hi there! I'm Niall McQuay.

I'm a software engineer and solopreneur based in Sandy, Utah, where the scenery is beautiful and the people are friendly.

I specialize in building SaaS products and engineering teams through my company, VolcanicDevs.

I'm also building a SaaS company, and documenting my journey on my blog so that others can learn how to do it themselves.

When I'm not building businesses for myself and others, you can find me spending time with my family and friends, playing guitar, attending concerts, and trying to spend as much time outdoors as my crazy schedule allows.

My Background

I got my first software engineering job in 2016, and a lot has happened since.

Here's the highlight reel; I've built and launched multiple SaaS startups from idea to Series A and worked at 1 unicorn who went public. I've built Computer Vision tech for the Solar industry, ML tech for the Education Industry, and spent some time as a manager over 17 developers located all over the world. I've done contract work on the side, helping small businesses get their MVPs out into the world.

Throughout all of this, my ambition has always been to start my own business, which is why I left my cushy $200k/yr job in late 2023 with only a few months of runway saved up, and no backup plan in place.

Now on top of my engineering and management skills, I'm learning how to be an inventor, a salesman, and a marketer.
